Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has yet to announce if classic games from other legacy consoles, such as the Super NES and N64, will be offered on Switch, but the company did confirm that it will not bring back the Virtual Console service.

It's A Meme, Mario!

Paying for an online Switch subscription will also let you take multiplayer games like Splatoon 2, Arms, and Mario Kart 8 online. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Balloon Fight, and Dr. Mario. For individual memberships, one, three and 12-month subscriptions will cost $3.99, $7.99 and $19.99, respectively.

From September 2018, you will have to pay if you want to play your Nintendo Switch games online with friends or against randoms.

Because we already know that 20 NES games are coming to the Switch alongside its online service, it's tough to say Nintendo is ignoring its catalogue of older games and their potential on Switch.

And although its full launch was delayed several times, Nintendo Switch Online will be with us soon enough.

Switch Online, which has been in development since the console launched past year, will charge a monthly fee and in return enable users to play online against others and back up data from their console to the cloud.

Of course, all of these services are gated behind a paywall, but Nintendo Switch Online's cost is substantially less than those of Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus. The other 10 games will be announced closer to launch and more games will be added regularly after September.

Nintendo also detailed a few of the perks of being a member of this service, with the headliner being the Nintendo Entertainment System - Nintendo Switch Online.

Nintendo Switch Online App: The Nintendo Switch Online smartphone application can be used to enhance the online experience for compatible games through voice chat and other features.

Of note is the representative's use of "banner", as classic games will still be included on the eShop and as part of the online service model. This acts as a sort of Netflix for games and will slowly cycle through Nintendo's catalogue of classic games. Nintendo is also offering a 12-month Family membership for the very attractive price of $34.99.
