Sen. Johnny IsaksonJohn (Johnny) Hardy IsaksonSenators hope Trump's next VA pick will be less controversial Menendez admonished by Ethics panel, which says he broke the law Trump VA pick withdraws nomination MORE (Ga.), the Republican chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, does not "have a problem" with how misconduct allegations against Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson were handled, his office said Saturday. "The Secret Service is unable to confirm (in fact they deny) any of the phony Democrat charges which have absolutely devastated the wonderful Jackson family", Trump tweeted.

"These are all false accusations", Trump said while calling in to Fox & Friends on Fox News.

At that time, Jackson called the allegations against him "completely false and fabricated", but said they had become a distraction for Trump and the mission to help veterans.

Dr. Ronny Jackson withdrew his name as nominee to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs, leaving advocates anxious about the chaos and risks ahead for the agency that serves 9 million military veterans and employs 350,000 workers.

On the allegation that Jackson wrecked a government auto after drinking at a Secret Service going away party: The official said the White House looked at General Services Administration records. Jon Tester's Democratic staff on the committee considering his nomination.

The White House medical unit that Jackson ran successfully passed regular controlled substance audits, according to the records for the last three years.

But Jackson withdrew his nomination Thursday, in part because of a flood of allegations, including that he drank on duty and once crashed a government vehicle. "The Secret Service has no such record of any incident; specifically, any incident involving Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson".

The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment.

"A thorough review of internal documents related to all Presidential foreign travel that occurred in 2015, in addition to interviews of personnel who were present during foreign travel that occurred during the same time frame, has resulted in no information that would indicate the allegation is accurate", the statement reads, according to the Washington Post.

CNN reported earlier this week, on anonymous sourcing, that during an overseas trip in 2015 Jackson got drunk and belligerently banged on a female colleague's hotel door. He would have been a great leader, ' Trump complained, noting that he, Obama and former President George W. Bush had all praised the doctor's conduct in the past.

"To say the kind of things that he said. most people never said [they] happened", Trump said.

"I would take that as a very positive thing that President Trump has been able to negotiate in the previous year or so, and we'll see how it all plays out over time", he said.
