That's how President Trump described how the addition of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani should help silence those who were criticizing his efforts to hire a big-name attorney, according to a Friday AP report.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Giuliani said, "I hope we can negotiate an end to this for the good of the country".

There's something ironic about that, because Trump's refusal to take the advice not to is reportedly the main reason for the resignation of John Dowd, who led the president's personal legal team in the Russian Federation investigation until last month.

Mayor Giuliani once served as US Attorney for the Southern District of NY, the office that is now overseeing an investigation into President Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

"Jane and Marty are highly respected former federal prosecutors with decades of experience". "I mean, think about it: how do you do a criminal investigation of the Trump campaign and leave Rudy out of it?" he said. Apparently, Giuliani and Mueller have known each other for years.

The President believes that Giuliani - a brash New Yorker with a reputation as a tough prosecutor - can assess Mueller's team and possibly shepherd a swift end to the investigation, according to a source familiar with Trump's thinking. He became famous for cracking down on crime and, later, for leading the city through the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 and the aftermath.

"They've been saying I'm going to get rid of them for the last three months, four months, five months", Mr. Trump said.

The Daily Beast reported earlier Thursday that Giuliani was in talks with Trump about joining the legal team.

"It's too early for me to say that", Giuliani said.

A week after federal agents raided the offices and residence of longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, Sekulow sought to bolster the force protecting the president from mounting challenges on several sides.

"We always disagreed, he is a Yankee fan, I am a Red Sox fan, but we are friends", he said.

Mr. Trump noted that his legal team has turned over "tremendous amounts of paper" to Mr. Mueller's investigators.

"I've had a long relationship with Bob Mueller. This gives the government the advantage of deciding unilaterally which materials it deems relevant to an ongoing investigation and may result in the seizure of materials plainly subject to attorney client and other privileges", the site says. "I know that Rudy has made it clear that the goal is to try to get this wrapped up here as expeditiously as possible".

Jane Serene Raskin and Martin Raskin did not immediately return a request for comment.
