The Caravan had in an earlier report claimed that Justice Loya's sister and father had said that the Justice was offered a bribe of Rs 100 crore and a flat in Mumbai to pass a favourable judgment in Sohrabuddin encounter killing case.

The top court officials confirmed that the website had become "non-functional" from 11.35 am and said all efforts were being made to restore normalcy. Documentary material on record indicates that death of judge Loya was due to natural causes.

Senior Advocate Prashant Bhushan while reacting on the SC order said, "SC bench headed by CJI dismissed the petitions into Judge Loya's death, despite the ECG and Histopath report falsifying heart attack theory". "There is no basis whatsoever to make any imputation against the four officers of the state judiciary".

"Intervener was Centre for Public Interest Litigation. The truth of Judge Loya's death will one day positively come out after an independent inquiry monitored by Supreme Court", said Congress communications in-charge Randeep Surjewala. He said, "The real face of Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi has been exposed". He added that the petitions were wrong as they unaware of the truth.

BJP spokesman Sambit Patra said all the petitions were politically motivated and were aimed at defaming Amit Shah.

"The circumstances of Justice Loya's death raised several questions".

"If we can not protect one of our own, we have no reason to exist", he had told the court. The Congress had been demanding a court-monitored probe, although it was not among the petitioners in the apex court. But it fell short of initiating contempt proceedings against the lawyers "only not to give an impression that the litigants and the lawyers appearing for them have been subjected to an unequal battle with the authority of law". No one, without an investigation, can decide whether death is natural or not.

The Bench had reserved the judgment on the pleas on March 16.

Loya had died of cardiac arrest in Nagpur on December 1, 2014 when he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague's daughter.

After Loya's death, judge M.B. Gosavi took over the trial.

April 19 (ANI): The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Thursday demanded that Judge Loya's death case verdict should be reviewed by a larger bench of the apex court and termed the today's ruling in the case as an "unfortunate" one. "There are a number of unanswered questions", said Srinivas Loya, the uncle of the judge.

This is not about the Supreme Court getting cold feet about investigating a political bigshot.
