Guardiola Rules Aguero, Stones Out; Wary Of "Fantastic" Spurs

Paul Merson slams 'disrespectful' Man City boss Pep Guardiola after Liverpool treatment

Aguero's season could be over after his injury setback, says Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has cast doubt over Sergio Aguero's fitness for Manchester City's title run-in.

The result narrowed the gap to at the top to still what looks like an unassailable 13 point lead, but having also now lost three games in a week (two to Liverpool in the Champions League and and the Manchester Derby), Pep Guardiola is refusing to rule out an end of season collapse, and has used examples from Spanish football and the National Basketball Association to prove his point.

Guardiola said: "It can happen. We can only try to focus and win at Tottenham and then Swansea", he told reporters. "We are sad we went out of the Champions League, but it's hard to take the way it happened".

"When I saw the pundits and the people in November, they say it's already done, it's impossible that City - if they don't lose in six months, three or four months - it's impossible for them to drop points".

"I don't know. We can not forget he was one month injured".

City will hope to get back to winning ways and claim the first of the two victories they need to secure the Premier League crown as they face Spurs at Wembley on Saturday evening. We have handled the pressure - good and bad situations - all season. We have to handle that. In the Premier League, we won the last five in a row except United. Real Madrid, many years ago, lose six games in a row and didn't win the league.

"Of course it can happen, I assure you". In the National Basketball Association finals one team recovered from 3-1 down. Cleveland Cavaliers won against Golden State Warriors 4-3.

"But it's in our hands, we don't depend on anyone else, and that's a good advantage".

"When the opponent is good, we will congratulate our opponents on beating us, and after learn from that for the next game".

Guardiola said his side need to put their disastrous run of losses behind them despite still holding a 13-point lead at the top of the table with six games remaining.

"They know that [the players]".

Ireland defender Shane Duffy has been generally excellent on the Seagulls' debut season in the Premier League, but the big Derry man will be looking to bounce back after a costly mistake last weekend allowed Steve Mounie to score in the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield. Now 13 points clear at the top of the table with six games to go, Guardiola is nearly certain to add his first Premier League title to the League Cup for this season's trophy haul. That happened. So we have to play tomorrow and after that we see the result from United.

"The problem is we shot three shots on target against Liverpool at home, that is the problem".
