Survivors of a school shooting in Parkland, Florida, returned from spring break Monday to new security measures that some students said made them feel like they were in prison.

"I think if people want to bring weapons to school, they'll find a way, and clear backpacks are not going to solve anything", Warner said. Many returning to class Monday carried their lunch in clear plastic bags.

Since the shooting, students have become vocal advocates for gun control, demanding that lawmakers pass new gun laws to prevent future shootings. We only saw a couple of regular backpacks this morning.

'This backpack is probably worth more than my life, ' student Carmen Lo tweeted.

Additional sheriff's deputies and Florida Highway Patrol troopers also have been stationed at the Parkland school since the February 14 massacre.

Broward County Public Schools announced on March 21 that students would be required to use clear backpacks as a safety measure.

Once inside, they were issued mandatory see-through backpacks and ID badges which must be worn at all times.

She said those personal accounts are important, but she recognizes not all of them will be covered by the media. Other students say the move violates their privacy. She went on to say, "many students are actually unhappy with the clear backpacks, as they believe that it infringes on their privacy, so they wrote messages on pieces of paper and put it into the clear backpacks".

Following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 students and staff dead, transparent backpacks are now the only school bags allowed on the campus.

Junior Jack Macleod said he is not opposed to the clear backpacks if they are used with other safety measures, such as metal detectors or wands.

Thanks to the outspokenness and energy of surviving students like David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez, the tragic shooting has sparked a movement against gun violence and for common-sense gun control laws. "I think Laura was in line".

'When people pay money for these modifications on our school (the only school in the country that is being altered btw) that means someone is getting paid and I am sick and exhausted of us being treated like prize pigs'. "They get a rifle and put it in a musical instrument case".

"We will adjust as needed moving forward", he tweeted in response to students.
