Sessions Has Made a Decision About Appointing a Second Special Counsel

Department of Justice Charges FBI Whistleblower Under Espionage Act

BREAKING DOJ Inspector General Will Investigate Obama Administration FISA Abuse

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) is calling on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to "do his job" and appoint a second special counsel to investigate potential political bias at the Department of Justice and FBI in the investigation into Hillary Clinton's mishandling of classified information and the Russian Federation probe.

Republicans have been fuming about they see as bias within the FBI, while Democrats say the surveillance abuse allegations are created to undermine special counsel Robert Mueller's sprawling investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Amid new evidence of Obama White House collusion with the FBI in the probe of alleged Trump-Russia collusion in the 2016 election, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has decided a special prosecutor is not needed at the moment to investigate allegations of abuse of power by the bureau and by Hillary Clinton in the sale of Uranium One.

On Nov. 13 - the same day that Boyd's letter went to the House Judiciary Committee - the Justice Department announced that Sessions had tapped Huber to serve as vice chair of the attorney general's Advisory Committee of US Attorneys.

Horowitz's investigation comes at the request of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and congressional Republicans.

Sessions' and Boyd's letters refer to multiple "senior federal prosecutors", but Flores declined to comment on who else Huber was working with on the review.

Sessions said he receives regular updates from Huber.

Huber is a veteran prosecutor who has been confirmed twice by the Senate as USA attorney for Utah - once in 2015 after he was nominated by President Obama, and again in 2017 after he was nominated by President Trump.

The letter is likely to unnerve Republican lawmakers, who have called for multiple special counsels to study allegations of misconduct in some of the FBI's highest profile, most politically charged investigations. "We understand that the department is not above criticism and it can never be that the department conceals errors where they occur", the Los Angeles Times quotes Sessions as writing in a letter to three Republican lawmakers. I have appointed a person outside of Washington, many years in the Department of Justice to look at all the allegations that the House Judiciary Committee members sent to us; and we're conducting that investigation. His own involvement in any decision is further complicated by the fact that he is recused from all investigations related to the 2016 presidential campaign.

Huber, originally appointed by former President Barack Obama and but recently renominated by President Donald Trump, will conduct a "full, complete, and objective evaluation" of Republican concerns and submit recommendations, Sessions said.
