Roma set record-breaking asking price for Arsenal and Liverpool target Alisson

Arsenal are known to be in the market for a new shot-stopper to succeed increasingly error-prone veteran Petr Cech, while Liverpool have also been linked with the Roma keeper. "Salah is tearing up the Premier League; he said he wanted to leave and had no time left on his contract, so we had no choice", Pallotta explained.

And now Italian publication Corriere dello Sport report that Roma president Jim Pallotta has spoken with sporting director Monchi about the price at which they would be willing to sell Alisson.

Barcelona knocked out reigning Premier League champions Chelsea through a 4-1 aggregate win, including a 1-1 draw away at Stamford Bridge and a Lionel Messi masterclass during the return leg.

The Spaniard, who gained a reputation for discovering talented players when he was at Sevilla, doesn't plan on repeating the move with another big sale this summer.

"Roma have already made a little miracle", the 44-year-old told Omnisport, speaking courtesy of Hublot.

"He has not really been doing any training with us to any great extent".

"We hope that the knee will be OK but we have had to be very cautious with him after the Huddersfield game because he came back from injury a lot earlier than perhaps he should have done".

"As a sports director you have an obligation to listen to everyone", Monchi said.

It's a job that Roma's American ownership understands.

"Monchi has had to deal with a lot of issues with Financial Fair Play and some of the mess we still had with that. I think the guys are ready to play, I just don't want us to look past Bologna this weekend".

"We are very pleased that Monchi chose to join us, to join our project", Gandini added.
