Apple iOS 11.3 rolls out: Battery Health tool, new Animoji, and more

Apple releases watchOS 4.3 with iPhone and HomePod music control, and more

Apple releases iOS 11.3, macOS 10.13.4, tvOS 11.3, and watchOS 4.3

Today, vast swaths of iPhones and iPads will gain access to iOS 11.3, an update that Apple says brings new augmented-reality features and the ability to control the power-management functionality that was quietly introduced in a past release. Apple touts that this makes for a "new music video experience for Apple Music".

Now, a new function included in the company's upcoming operating system, iOS 11.3, will allow you to de-throttle your phone if you so choose.

The ARKit developer framework has been upgraded in iOS 11.3, and improvements are impressive, especially considering how recently version 1.0 launched. After installing the update, head over to Settings Battery Battery Health to see if the slowdown feature is enabled on your iPhone 6, 6 Plus, SE, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, or 7 Plus.

But there's more than meets the eye, check out our discovery of the Top 7 iOS features that are hiding in your iPhone (this should work on the iPad too, but we are focusing this on the iPhone).

Using advanced computer vision techniques to find and recognise the position of 2D images such as signs, posters and artwork, ARKit can integrate these real world images into AR experiences such as filling a museum with interactive exhibits or bringing a movie poster to life. It also includes a new setting called Battery Health, which lets iPhone owners decide how their phone performs. The Apple Watch and Apple TV also received updates.

Locking the videos behind Apple Music's subscription wall is a distinctly different tactic we've seen from the likes of VEVO, a video streaming service who's long offered free music videos from Universal, Sony and Warner for free on its website and mobile apps with advertisements. But the service is now only available in beta, and user who want it will have to install that version of the software.
