Although Barcelona have looked to quash speculation of Neymar's return to the club, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to have met with Neymar's agent, Neymar Snr, in Brazil, ensuring an interesting summer of Neymar transfer speculation awaits. The potential new deal would make the Brazilian the highest paid player in the world, overtaking Messi's current deal worth £40 million (R679 million) annually.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Brazilian football legend Ronaldo advised his former club Real Madrid to sign his fellow countryman Neymar who now plays for French club Paris-Saint-Germain.

"[Neymar] has always been spectacular, since he was 11 years old".

"With the quality that he has, I would sign him for sure".

"He is well, he has already resumed weight training in Brazil, and I really hope he will stay with us at PSG next season". "I believe the PSG project is very solid with Neymar inside it - subject closed".

"He would get along very well with Cristiano, very well".

The newspaper says that the Brazilian has put that as a condition for his staying, compared to the offers he received from great teams such as Real Madrid.

Varane was more coy on the subject, but also said that he would welcome the Brazilian.

"For me, Cristiano is the best player in the world".

In the case of Carvajal, the right-back did not expand too much when asked if he'd prefer Neymar or Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann to join.

Barcelona would also be in the running to bring the superstar back to La Liga, but given that he supposedly left Catalonia to escape Lionel Messi's cast shadow, that seems unlikely.
