Seahawks Rumors: CB Richard Sherman Telling Seattle Teammates Goodbye

If we needed any more clarification regarding the reported Michael Bennett to Philadelphia Eagles trade, the Pro Bowler himself provided it on Wednesday afternoon.

The Philadelphia Eagles and the Seattle Seahawks have made a deal that will send defensive end Michael Bennett to Philly in exchange for wide receiver Marcus Johnson and a draft pick, according to National Football League insider Ian Rapoport.

They had claimed the Lombardi Trophy on February 4 in Minneapolis, edging the New England Patriots, 41-33, for the franchise's first Super Bowl title. Jenkins, defensive end Chris Long and wide receiver Torrey Smith have been some of the more active players on the social justice front. The 32-year-old Bennett has three years remaining on his contract, with a base salary of just $1.65 million in 2018. He had a respectable 2017 season - making his third straight Pro Bowl - with 8.5 sacks and 24 quarterback hits in 16 games, all while dealing with injuries.

Bennett's brother Martellus is now on the Patriots' roster, although he may be cut in the next week or so since he's due a roster bonus on March 14.

A call to a source close to Bennett seeking confirmation went unanswered Wednesday morning.

Bennett played through a torn plantar-fascia in his foot and a swollen knee, on top of a grotesquely bent toe that's bothered him for years.

"I'll be fine", Bennett said after the loss to Arizona. "You move forward and play for another organization if you get the opportunity".

Those games were the only ones he missed since joining the Seahawks in 2013 after four seasons with Tampa Bay.

He told me at the end of last season, on New Year's Eve, "I probably won't be back" with Seattle in 2018.

The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles bolstered their formidable pass rush with another top-level defensive lineman.
