Apple to release 2018 iPhone with massive 6.5-inch display – and it will be available in gold

Apple's Short Interest Rises 7 Million Shares, but Does It Matter?

Apple is poised to release the largest ever iPhone later this year, according to Bloomberg.

Despite months of breathless hype, the iPhone X hasn't sold as well as expected since its debut previous year. According to the report, the lineup will include three different models all designed after last year's iPhone X in which there will be no bezels, big screens, and notches.

Apple's biggest iPhone is expected to feature a 6.5-inch display, and use the OLED display tech seen on the iPhone X. The device could have dimensions similar to that of iPhone 8 Plus, and yet offer a screen that is an inch larger when measured diagonally. The Cupertino-based giant had started using OLED display with iPhone X.

The new iPhone may even sport dual SIM card ports so owners could use their phones overseas without having to change cards to connect to different cellular carriers. Both of these phones are expected to use next-generation A12 processors and will continue to include stainless steel edges, they say, and will be Apple's high-end smartphone offerings.

MORE NEW IPHONES? The Brooklyn Apple Store is seen during a media preview in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn on July 28, 2016 in New York City. But with Apple still struggling in China, it needs to sell the sizzles while keeping the price below $1,000.

The big iPhone X with a 6.5-inch display will sport a resolution of 2688×1242 pixels.

When Apple jumped from a 4-inch display to 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display model in the year 2014, the company saw a huge increase in numbers of iPhone customers. Apparently, the company tried to introduce gold for iPhone X but ran into production problems. Looks like now Apple will also include that color option in upcoming iPhones.

It is considering releasing a dual-SIM variant as well. Apple has not made a final decision and might opt for E-SIM technology instead. It will replace the Apple iPhone 8 that has a dated design when compared to other premium smartphones in the market.

Similar to the iPhone X, the phablet-style iPhone will also feature a Face ID camera which will allow users to unlock their smartphone by looking at the device.

The body of "D33" would still be the same size as the iPhone 8 Plus, but thanks to its edge-to-edge screen, will be the largest iPhone yet.
