According to Steele, the pit bulls belong to the Saylors' neighbors, although there hasn't been an official confirmation of this fact.

Around 10:20 a.m. Sunday, Lorraine Saylor, 66, was mauled by the two dogs as she was putting bird seed out in her yard at her Kentucky home in Arjay, about 200 miles southeast of Louisville and near the Tennessee border.

The owner of the dogs, Johnny Dale Lankford, 42, had been in a local detention center after being charged Friday with domestic violence and unlawful imprisonment. "Under no circumstances are you to engage this risky animal". When he went out on his porch, he was suddenly attacked by the two pit bulls.

Johnny Saylor suffered injuries to his head and arm while fending the animals off. "They were both active within the community and just, like I said, two of the nicest people you would ever meet".

"The ambulance kept trying to get him to go to the hospital but he wouldn't leave until I took her into our care", said Steele. The Bell County Sherriff's Department responded to a dispatch call and found the injured couple. "She was just a sweetheart" said Steele. "The deputies determined that the dogs did not belong to the couple".

According to the BCSD Facebook page, Sheriff Mitch Williams is asking the community to be on the lookout for the brown and white pit bull that ran off after being injured. Her husband, Johnny Saylor, rushed outside to help only to be attacked by the dogs as well, according to WKRN.

If you see a pit bull matching that description, in the Arjay or surrounding area, call Bell County dispatch immediately at 606-337-6174 or 911.
