In a teaser for the new special, Chappelle's jokes for Equanimity seem to largely revolve around economic and social issues.
Chappelle is referring to the "poor whites" who voted for Trump and the reason why he is now the country's commander-in-chief. In addition to the previously announced Netflix special Equanimity, the comedian is dropping a separate special titled The Bird Revelation, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the two-minute preview, Chappelle jokingly reveals he has no problem with white people, but admits that "poor whites" can sometimes get under his skin.
"I'm wishing Donald Trump luck", he said at the time. "My parents did just well enough so I could grow up poor around white people", he says.
Chappelle's net worth is estimated to be over $40 million and he was reportedly paid $60 million by Netflix for his three specials. "Poor. He's fighting for me.'" The audience roars into laughter.
