Trump lawyer: Deutsche Bank has not received subpoena for Trump records

Director Defends FBI After Trump Says Bureau Is in 'Tatters'

Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller has reportedly subpoenaed Trump family financial records from the German financial giant Deutsche Bank, a move that could signal a major new direction for his inquiry.

Sekulow was responding to a report from German business newspaper Handelsblatt that Mueller had subpoenaed records from Deutsche Bank as part of his investigation into possible Russian involvement in the USA presidential election campaign.

Germany's largest bank received a subpoena from Mueller several weeks ago to provide information on certain money and credit transactions, the person added, confirming a report by German daily Handelsblatt published on Tuesday.

In June, Deutsche Bank already rejected demands by US House Democrats to provide details of Trump's finances, saying sharing client data would be illegal unless it received a formal request to do so. Law professor Ryan Goodman suggests that Mueller could be trying to determine if Trump's loans from the bank were guaranteed by Russian interests, which could mean he was indebted to them in ways that could compromise him.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's office spent $3.2 million during the first few months of his investigation into Russian election interference and possible coordination with associates of President Donald Trump.

At this point, we don't know exactly what Mueller is looking for in the Deutsche Bank records.

Mueller filed charges against Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates on October 30.

Trump has consistently denied any collusion between his campaign and Russian Federation and has stated that he did not have any business dealings in Russian Federation.

Suffice it to say, for President Donald Trump's supporters who see the investigation as little more than a witch hunt, the reaction was not too pleasant.

"I think that's a violation", Mr. Trump told the paper.

Citing two people familiar with the meeting, CNN reported that former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn was the prime topic of the conversation between Kushner and Mueller's team.

In addition, the department said that its various offices have also spent another $3.5 million to help assist the probe, though those expenditures would have occurred "irrespective of the existence of the" special counsel's office. Those trades are being investigated in multiple probes in the U.S. and Europe.
