Trumps light national Christmas tree for first time

He wished the country "a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year" and "unbelievable holidays".

A press statement from the White House says the decorations were designed by First Lady Melania Trump "with a nod to tradition" and paying "respect to 200 years of holiday traditions at the White House".

In 2017, that Christmas spirit is now on full display at the White House. Grover Cleveland was the first to use electric lights on a family Christmas tree, in 1894. "The man who brought "Merry Christmas" back to our nation's capital - and you did, sir".

And that wish for a Merry Christmas, was proclaimed loud and proud, all the way down to this year's official Christmas cards.

"Whatever our beliefs, we know that the birth of Jesus Christ and the story of this incredible life forever changed the course of human history", Mr. Trump told a crowd along the National Mall near the White House. Perhaps President Trump has taken to wearing novelty reindeer socks? The tradition began in 1923 with President Calvin Coolidge and takes place in President's Park, just south of the White House.

Jennifer Pickens, an expert on White House East Wing traditions, predicted that Mrs Trump's window wreaths will become another tradition that no future first lady will want to end.

Among the Christmas standards is an 18-foot (about 5.5-meter) fir tree in its traditional spot in the Blue Room, decorated with ornaments bearing the seals of every state and USA territory. More than 25,000 visitors are expected to tour the White House for the holidays and the kitchen is ready: a total of 31,000 cookies have been baked, including 15,000 sugar cookies.

It was the 95th ceremony of lighting up the main Christmas tree USA. Each one of us is a child of God.
