California sees unseasonable record warmth

Record-breaking heat wave hits western US for Thanksgiving

This would mark the latest 90 degree day ever recorded in Tucson since records have been kept.

This ridge will be at its strongest on Thanksgiving, potentially breaking daytime high temperature records for many Arizona communities that afternoon.

The city will likely warm back up in time for the work week, according to the weather service, with the high anticipated to reach the mid-60s on Monday.

The National Weather Service of Great Falls says this wind event isn't too unusual for our area. It will be cooler than Wednesday - especially along the coast - but still hot and dry.

The National Weather Service said Thursday that the high of 65 degrees matches the record set on Thanksgiving 1910. Forecasters predicted temperatures in the high 80s and mid-90s throughout the Los Angeles area. The average high temperatures for that time of the year range from the lows 30s to upper 20s.

Los Angeles isn't the only region experiencing record temperatures during the Thanksgiving holiday week.

Records were also set by midday in Long Beach, where the temperature reached 91 and topped the 2015 record of 88.

If Thursday's high in downtown Los Angeles reaches 90, as forecast, it would tie a record set on November 23, 1903, Thompson said.
