Spokespeople for Alabama Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore denied the allegations against the candidate at an event on Tuesday, refusing to answer questions as women come forward about Moore's past. "We don't need a liberal person in there, a Democrat, Jones", Trump said when asked if he was ready to talk about Moore (referring to Moore's opponent Doug Jones).
Trump criticized Moore's opponent, Democrat Doug Jones, as being "terrible on crime, awful on borders".
Chalian said Trump "doesn't want to be crosswise with his base" because Trump knows that all of the energy is with the "Bannon wing", which has "not abandoned Moore". "And by the way, he totally denies it". "He says it didn't happen", Trump said of Moore in response to shouted questions from reporters about the nine women who have made claims against him.
Trump also said he will announce next week whether he will campaign for Moore, who has been abandoned by the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Republican National Committee in the wake of the accusations.
Corfman said that since the story in the Washington Post there have been "a lot of people that have come out and have said that because of my courage they're able to do the same".
But Trump on Tuesday left the door open to campaigning with Moore.
Young said Moore "is going to help Donald Trump" pass tax reform and "build the wall" while "Doug Jones is not for stopping Obamacare". Most of accusers said the misconduct occurred when they were teenagers and Moore was in his thirties. "He says, 40 years ago, this did not happen". He is weak on crime.
By saying he supports Moore's version of events, Trump is, de facto, saying that the women aren't telling the truth. That if Moore says he didn't do these things, then he must not have. "He is bad for property owners".
