Vermont October jobless rate stays at 2.9 percent
Louisiana's unemployment rate was 6.1 percent a year ago. The September estimate was revised to a gain of 10,300 jobs.
Month over month, the Boise, Idaho Falls and Pocatello areas have exceeded seasonal expectations, with a collective increase of 1,600 jobs, while the Lewiston and Coeur d'Alene areas saw no change, labor officials said.
Statistics released Friday by the Vermont Department of Labor shows that the October rate showed no change from September and is down from 3.2 percent in October of past year.
The state's unemployment rate has dropped for the second month in a row. The labor-force participation rate over the year has increased by 0.8% compared to October 2016. In October 2016, the island's rate of unemployment stood at 3.6 percent. The leisure and hospitality sector has grown by almost 2,500 with other services adding slightly more than 2,000 jobs this year.
