Mueller Investigation Has Enough Evidence to Charge Michael Flynn - Media Report

Mr Mueller's team are also said to be looking at whether the former National Security Adviser attempted to have Fethullah Gullen, an elderly Muslim cleric, extradited from the USA to Turkey in exchange for millions of dollars.

After former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and two others were indicted last week, the sources say Mueller is applying renewed pressure on Flynn.

Mr Flynn served 24 days as Mr Trump's national security adviser but was sacked after it was discovered he had misrepresented his contacts with a Russian diplomat to Vice-President Michael Pence.

Flynn was ousted from his White House position just three weeks after President Donald Trump assumed office after it was revealed that Flynn had not told the transition team the full details of phone calls he had held with then-Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

FBI investigators are reported to have arranged interviews with multiple witnesses in the coming days with the aim of gathering further evidence against Mr Flynn.

Barry Coburn, a lawyer for Michael Flynn Jr, declined to comment and Robert Kelner, Flynn's lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment. "I've seen documentation, classified and not, of Michael Flynn's activities and charges from Mueller wouldn't remotely surprise me, but we're still talking about someone who had access to our nation's vital secrets while working in the White House".

The alleged evidence against Mr Flynn, a retired army general, suggests Mr Mueller's probe is getting closer to the inner circle around Mr Trump.

"End of the day, what we owe the American people is the truth and, most importantly, how we make sure that we don't have a foreign power and a foreign power like Russian Federation intervene again in our elections", said Senator Mark Warner. In addition to Mr Manafort and Mr Gates, George Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy adviser to the campaign, has pleaded guilty to lying to law enforcement officials and is reported to have been cooperating with the investigation.

And having Flynn's son over a barrel could get him there.
