GIGGLES Kim Jong-un encouraged women to use his products to be'more beautiful
North Korean ruler Kim Jong-un and his wife Ri Sol-ju stepped out in public to visit the Pyongyang Cosmetic Factory to encourage women to be "more lovely", according to pictures released over the weekend.
These pictures were released through the reclusive state's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Oct 29.
It's unclear exactly when the images were taken, as they were released without a date.
While we're used to seeing the hermit kingdom's supreme leader cheerily visiting bomb makers and giggling on the sidelines of ballistic missile tests, he eschewed those macho environments to enjoy the pastel colours and soft lighting of the Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory. During his visit, Kim called for production of "cosmetics of good quality with world competitive power", according to the Korea Herald.
Kim said North Korea launched its first pilot communications satellite, Kwangmyongsong-1, in August 1998.
"This can help women fulfil their dreams of becoming more attractive".
Recent United Nations (UN) sanctions following North Korea's provocative acts have placed additional economic pressure on Pyongyang, but that hasn't stopped Kim's regime from promising to sending more satellites, including a stationary one, into space. In that regard, Kim has flouted tradition by appearing publicly with Ri. Her exact age is unknown and she rarely makes public appearances.
The JoongAng Daily reported Monday Chinese authorities have detained a group of North Koreans connected to a plot to kill Kim following the assassination of Kim's father, Kim Jong Nam, at an airport in Malaysia.
