While Amazon can direct its delivery employees to enter a home, the homeowner can control who else can come in when they aren't around. This allows the delivery person to swipe a button on the app that unlocks the door. The kit comes with an Amazon Cloud Cam (Key Edition) and an Amazon Key-compatible smart lock provided by Kwiskset or Yale. All of this is done through an encryption process, and once the process is complete, the Cloud Cam begins recording, and the door is unlocked for the employee to enter.
Amazon's solution is called the "Amazon Key". The company will offer free in-home installation, but says it's simple enough for customers to install themselves.
