While the Persona games are relatively lighthearted, the Shin Megami Tensei series is darker and usually focuses on a demon-ridden Tokyo. And now, over ten months later, we know what that project will be. The announcement was presented with a trailer that teased what to expect from the game and confirmed that it is only coming to the Nintendo Switch.
While 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the series, it was nearly impossible that Atlus wouldn't release a new Shin Megami Tensei title for Nintendo's new console. In the tunnels around Tokyo lie the corpses of devils that died in the city, and the trailer closes when high school students are surrounded, and presumably killed, by devils that still threaten the city's inhabitants. No release date, either. It looks like we'll be heading back to modern-day Japan this time around, and demons have again invaded. While many franchises start turning their backs on the 3DS/2DS handheld consoles, Nintendo Switch is gaining a steady growing list of upcoming video game titles.
