"I am very happy that Mr Thakor had a meeting with our vice president and agreed to join the Congress party".

According to Reshma's Twitter page, she had written a letter to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on October 6 asking him to clarify his party's stand on granting reservation under OBC quota to Patidars. "Unemployment is a huge problem with lakhs of youngsters without jobs, more than 74,000 farmers are neck deep in debt, illicit liquor flows freely in the state despite prohibition and education and health sectors are in a total mess", Thakore told reporters. His key aides joined the BJP after a meeting with Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel and state party chief Jitu Vaghani during its parliamentary board meeting, which was also attended by BJP president Amit Shah.

Two leaders from the Patidar community in Gujarat, Reshma Patel, and Varun Patel have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

OBC leader Alpesh Thakor on Saturday joined hands with Congress party ahead of upcoming assembly polls in Gujarat. A couple of months ago, PAAS leader Hardik Patel had called upon people to vote for the Congress. The state will go to polls later this year. However, Hardik said that he will continue to fight till he has public support.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is heading his party's poll campaign in Gujarat. The constitutional amendment bill, however, could not be passed as the Congress stalled it in the Rajya Sabha, following its passage in the Lok Sabha. Reshma and Varun Patel both have reportedly accused the Patidar's leader of becoming a Congress agent.

Congress, however, has not stopped at that since it has also invited like-minded parties and leaders including Aam Aadmi Party and Chhotu Vasava, a tribal deader and JD (U) MLA.

"Though the BJP is trying its best to win the polls, it will not succeed in stopping the Congress' victory march to Gandhinagar".

"I do not intend to contest elections". The proposed front could rattle the BJP as all these three leaders represent three different powerful communities - Patidar, OBC and Dalit.
