The Air France Airbus A380 suffered extensive damage of its number four engine

Air France Flight 66, originating at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, landed at Goose Bay in Labrador at 1542 GMT, the airline said, and no one was hurt in the incident.

Passengers aboard the double-deck jet tweeted images of the blown out engine, and Air France later confirmed the accident aboard flight AF 066.

The airline said it is working to reroute the passengers to Los Angeles.

Another said they heard a "loud thud and a lot of vibration" before looking out of the window at the horrific scene.

An Air France Airbus A380 was forced to divert to Goose Bay, Canada, earlier today while en route to Los Angeles after suffering a serious engine-failure event.

Passengers on the flight and others watching the landing observed that the plane definitely looked "broken".

The passengers of the plane posted photos of the damaged engine.

One of the plane's four engine had "serious damage", but no further details about the damages were released.

Air France said the flight's crew made the decision to divert the plane and said the pilots and crew handled the situation "perfectly".
