Dozens of officers converge on the scene on Elm Street

Police said that this incident is a domestic violence related shooting.

The video, posted on Facebook and YouTube, shows the man in a physical confrontation with a Huntington Beach police officer outside of a 7-Eleven Friday morning in the beach city. State Police have taken over the investigation. The commercial area is home to several businesses and a strip mall, but authorities did not specify any locations involved. The two then fall to the ground and the officer can be heard shouting, "let go of my gun", though he appears to be in full control of the weapon.

At that time, Shumway and Pessino entered a home on Elm Street where police said they found a woman, a retired Department of Corrections officer, had been shot multiple times.

Upon officers' arrival, 24-year-old Jarred Burke attempted to flee the scene on bike. At some point, the man then reached toward the back of his waistband and made a "threatening statement", which caused the officer to believe the man was arming himself, authorities said. She was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital but where she is undergoing surgery and in critical condition.

Deputies were not aware of the civilian's condition.

Moore said that investigators had not determined Saturday afternoon whether the wounded suspect had been armed. The rounds also hit another officer who was trying to stop the man.

Detectives working at the scene declined to comment, referring inquiries to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
